Yabal’s women weavers in the rural Guatemalan communities of Pacutama and Chuicutama dream of giving their kids something that they never had- an education. Education is the hope they have for their children to escape poverty and have more options than they themselves had. But education, as all things in Guatemala, has a cost, which is prohibitive for poor and rural families. Many families are not able to send all of their children to school. In some cases, they only have the resources for one, if any, of their children to finish high school and the others are only able to complete 6th grade. Because of this, Yabal started a small education fund in order to help these families provide a better, more sustainable, future for the next generation. Will you help us?
We need your help to cover the scholarships for 8 youth for the 2020 school year, starting in January 2020. Your contribution of any size can change the lives and the future for these youth! Please help us provide a better future for these kids. Thank you! Gracias! Maltiox!
All the funds will go to the Guatemalan non-profit association, Yabal Guatemala. Yabal Guatemala supports Mayan women and families in the highlands of Guatemala overcome poverty through the Yabal weaving social enterprise, financial literacy and business education, educational opportunities for their children, and food security programs.
